Thomas Thanh Pham has been sentenced to 84 months in prison for defrauding a California electronics manufacturer, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. In addition to the prison term, Pham will undergo three years of supervised release and must pay $2,943,840 in restitution.
“Fraudsters have flocked to Minnesota for far too long,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. “Pham is no exception. He is a serial fraudster who has demonstrated that he will not stop until he is stopped. Thanks to the hard work of law enforcement, for the next 84 months, Pham will be where he belongs—in prison.”
Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. of FBI Minneapolis remarked on the accountability enforced by this sentence: “Bad actors like Pham take advantage of hardworking Americans in order to enrich themselves by defrauding others.” He further emphasized the ongoing efforts by the FBI and its partners to prevent such schemes.
Between 2019 and 2020, Pham devised a scheme that defrauded a California-based company out of approximately $1.2 million while serving as CEO of Enterprise Products, LLC. He falsely presented himself as a broker with connections to large companies and promised service agreements between an electronic manufacturing services company based in San Jose (Victim A) and his alleged business affiliates.
Pham engaged Victim A with claims that Enterprise Products could facilitate lucrative contracts with major electronics firms—a claim proven false when it was revealed that his supposed associate was actually an ex-convict posing as a corporate executive during negotiations.
To support his fraudulent claims, Pham provided Victim A with fabricated documents and required them to pay a “deposit bond” amounting to $1,278,000 under false pretenses of future profits from repair services contracts.
Despite sending Victim A about 20 stolen electronic devices labeled as samples requiring repairs, Pham failed to disclose their origin and misappropriated funds intended for escrow into unauthorized transactions instead.
Pham’s criminal history spans over three decades with convictions including felony theft of property, making false statements for property acquisition, unlawful possession of fraudulent identification documents, securing execution of documents by deception through forgery attempts or check frauds among others;
