Steven Scott Gordon, a 53-year-old resident of Curtice, Ohio, has been charged with the production of child pornography. The charge was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson following a superseding indictment.

Court documents reveal that Gordon allegedly posed online as a 20-year-old woman to publish erotica about the sexual abuse of children. Using this alias, he is accused of encouraging and directing a man in Minnesota to create images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of a child in Minnesota.

Investigators from the FBI in Ohio obtained Gordon’s electronic devices and discovered Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) on his computer. This included CSAM produced by the Minnesota man, which was transmitted to Gordon.

“Child sexual predators are among the dangerous of criminal defendants,” stated Acting United States Attorney Joseph H. Thompson. “Anyone who victimizes and sexually abuses Minnesota children should be prepared to serve decades in federal prison.”

Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. of FBI Minneapolis emphasized the importance of protecting children: “Every child deserves a safe and innocent childhood,” he said. “Gordon’s heinous actions shattered that innocence and caused unimaginable harm.”

Gordon appeared for arraignment in U.S. District Court on May 21, 2025, before Magistrate Judge David T. Schultz and was ordered to remain in custody pending further proceedings.

The investigation involved collaboration between the FBI, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, and Rosemount Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney William C. Mattessich is leading the prosecution.

It is important to note that an indictment is merely an allegation, and Steven Scott Gordon remains presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
