Eddie Lee Grasty has been sentenced to 72 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm. This was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick.

Court documents reveal that Grasty, aged 28, was arrested in March 2024 following an assault on a woman at a St. Paul apartment. During the incident, he repeatedly struck the woman and brandished a Glock handgun, threatening her life. Due to prior felony convictions related to violent assaults against women, Grasty was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick stated, “We know that defendants like Grasty—who habitually abuse and assault women—are some of the most dangerous offenders on the streets.” She added that “Grasty has stabbed, strangled, and terrorized women for years,” noting that his sentence is well-deserved.

The sentencing took place in U.S. District Court before Judge Ann D. Montgomery.

The case was investigated by the ATF and the St. Paul Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel W. Bobier representing the government during sentencing.
