Attorney General Keith Ellison has introduced a new online form for Minnesotans to report how federal actions, including those by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), have affected them or people close to them. The initiative aims to collect detailed and specific accounts of incidents in Minnesota related to federal agency activities.
The form is available on the Attorney General’s website at www.ag.state.mn.us/Federal-Action. It invites submissions about a range of issues linked to federal actions, such as alleged violations of constitutional rights—including racial profiling, excessive force, and retaliation against protestors or media—as well as business closures, reduced access to healthcare or education, public safety concerns, funding cuts, and administrative decisions tied to federal programs.
Minnesotans are encouraged to share first-hand experiences involving DHS agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Attorney General Ellison stated: “The surge of DHS agents into Minnesota has done tremendous harm to the people of Minnesota, and I urge those who have personally experienced or directly witnessed that harm to share their stories with my office. What’s most useful to my office right now are experiences that are specific and as detailed and direct as possible. In order to highlight certain impacts in Court, we may need to speak with eyewitnesses or those directly involved, rather than just collecting stories you have heard secondhand. My team and I will use these stories and experiences to assist in our ongoing fight to end the federal surge in Minnesota and the chaos, pain, and violence it has caused.”
Information collected through this form may be used by the Attorney General’s Office in various ways, including its ongoing lawsuit against DHS seeking an end to Operation Metro Surge. The office plans to add more language options for the form soon.
The Attorney General’s Office requests that only verified personal experiences be submitted—not rumors or unverified reports from social media—and notes it cannot provide legal representation for immigration cases or referrals for private attorneys.
This reporting tool is separate from Hennepin County Attorney’s portal for evidence regarding Renee Good’s death; information about that portal can be found at https://hennepinprosecutor.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/communityevidencerequest1-7-26.
